Highly Skilled Professional (ⅱ)

“Highly Skilled Professional (ⅱ)” is a work qualification for those engaged in the activities listed in No. 1 and who meet standards specified by the Ministry of Justice ordinance if their stay contributes to Japan. The period of stay can be indefinite.
Over the past 5 years, the greatest number of these professionals has come from China. In recent years, no other country has seen as large an increase as China, but the United States and India have trended slightly upward. In 2015, almost no one arrived from the United States, but the number rose quite high by 2019. However, the gap with China remains large.
