Researcher

“Researcher” residence status is a qualification to engage in research work based on a contract with a public or private Japanese institution. The period can be 1 year, 3 years, or 5 years.
Here, the distribution trend has not changed much from 2006 to 2020. However, the number of researchers entering and leaving Japan from the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Korea, both close to Japan, has particularly increased. Following are India, the United States, France, and Russia with relatively large numbers, while Canada, Australia, and some European countries have a certain number entering. For many of these countries, the number remains stable regardless of year, but Russia and China’s numbers are declining.
