Technical intern training (ⅰ) (a)

“Technical intern training (ⅰ) (a)” allows interns to receive training based on a technical intern training plan as certified by the Technical Intern Training Act and to engage in work related to those skills. However, this status is limited to the one related to the first company-independent technical intern training. The Minister of Justice designates individual residence status not to exceed 1 year.
For the past 10 years, the main entries have been from China and Southeast Asian countries, for example, Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia, likely due to expectations for Japan, which has a higher economic standard than these home countries and also to trust in Japanese companies. Recent trends have shown a slight increase in immigration to and from India and Peru. Additionally, an unprecedented trend was the remarkable 2016 increase in immigration from Saudi Arabia.
