The term “Spouse or Child of Permanent Resident” is a status of residence for a spouse married to a “Permanent Resident. “The status can also be applied by children of permanent residents who were born in Japan.
The characteristics seen on the map show that Chinese, South Korean, and Filipino nationals had the largest percentages of people entering and leaving Japan between 2006 and 2020. The percentage of U.S., Brazilian, and Peruvian nationals entering and leaving Japan has been shrinking since around 2016, but is gradually increasing through 2020. Migration from Vietnam and Pakistan has also been on the rise in recent years.
