There are consistently large numbers of entries from China, Korea, the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Australia. Along with this, there are many entries from the Philippines, which had not recorded such large numbers in the past as temporary visitors. In recent years, there has also been an increase in the number of entries from Brazil, India, and Russia. However, there has not been a significant change in the top countries at any given time. These are thought to be due in large part to the influence of the nationality of the partner in international marriages. In fact, among Japanese international marriages, 80% of the wives’ nationalities are from Asian countries such as China and the Philippines.
