Highly Skilled Professional (ⅰ) (a)

“Highly Skilled Professional (ⅰ) (a)” refers to activities of research, training guidance, or education based on a contract with an organization designated by the Minister of Justice, a related self-managed business, or an organization other than the organization concerned. This work qualification allows conducting research, guiding research, or education based on a contract. The period of stay can be 5 years.
The number of highly skilled professionals entering Japan from China is exceptionally large, followed by those from India, the United States, Vietnam, and others on the rise in recent years, except for 2020. However, other regions—Europe and Russia—have made only a slight increase but no major changes.
